What if you had twice as many resources as you have now?
What if you had the chance to influence the future/direction of adult literacy?
Have you ever wondered what other national literacy organizations do?
Ever wish you could attend more than one conference a year?
If any of these questions inspired you to think about new possibilities for your program then we invite you to participate in this conference.
Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc. (LVA) and Laubach Literacy International (LLI), the two largest volunteer literacy organizations in the nation, will hold their first joint national conference May 29 through June 1, 2002, at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego, California.
Highlights include:
- Special events, distinguished keynote speakers, and featured speakers from international programs.
- More than 80 workshops covering such varied topics as: literacy program management and training, recruiting volunteers, English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) instruction, learning disabilities, technology, women's literacy, workplace development, and correctional system literacy programs.
- Some 45 information booths and vendors are expected to fill the Literacy for All Exhibit Hall. New Readers Press, the publishing division of LLI, plans to display both new and tried-and-true favorite reading, writing, math, family literacy, ESL, staff development, and training materials (including several important new books at the ESL low-beginning level). In addition, Laubach Literacy Action staff and the ESL editor of New Readers Press will be on hand to answer questions.
