Why a shared gift?

• ProLiteracy solicits charitable gifts -- both outright and planned gifts -- nationwide. We develop relationships with donors interested in local, national and global literacy issues. We reinforce their interest by informing, educating and advocating for their charitable support of the programs they choose, at the level and in the manner that best serves their needs.
  
  
• Often, donors choose to include affiliated local or state literacy groups and ProLiteracy to share in their gift via the Gift of Literacy planned giving program.
  
  
• At ProLiteracy, we believe this donor centeredness is the hallmark of good stewardship - for all donors, for all affiliates and for all of literacy.
  
  
• Donors planned gift options may include the:
  
  
  Maturity of the gift (when the actual gift remainderment is distributed to the charitable beneficiaries),
  Income beneficiaries, (who receives income until maturity)
  Frequency of income payments,
  Charitable beneficiaries, and often even the
  Ultimate use of the gift by the charitable beneficiaries.
  
  One gift > One set of arrangements > Multiple beneficiaries
  
  
• Endowments, gift annuities, charitable trusts or pooled income funds all qualify for this sharing option. ProLiteracy handles all the documentation, tax reporting and financial distributions. Gift beneficiaries receive their shares according to the provisions of the donor's gift agreement.
  
  
• If a donor wishes to "do something" for a favorite community program, honor a loved one, or recognize the organization that introduced them to the wonders of literacy work, a shared gift is an ideal way to do these things and more.
