ProLiteracy Worldwide Privacy Policy

ProLiteracy Worldwide respects your privacy both on and off the Internet. ProLiteracy Worldwide does not sell, rent, or share the names or personal information of its donors with other organizations. We take the following steps to ensure that our information is confidential:

Credit Card Information: When you provide credit card information to ProLiteracy on-line through our secure Internet SSL site or through the mail, we take every possible step to ensure your privacy. Once processed, all but the last four digits of your credit card number are changed to an "x" to ensure privacy. We use a secure third party company to process your transaction.

Database: Names collected from all sources are added to our databases. The information in each database is password protected and available only to approved personnel of ProLiteracy Worldwide for the purposes defined by your relationship with our organization. Donor names are published only in our annual report-names are printed in other publications only with the individual's written permission. You have the right to request that your information be withheld from publications by requesting anonymous status for your record. You can contact us in writing, by calling, or by e-mail. Information shown in Your rights section below.

eInformation: If you have provided ProLiteracy with your e-mail address by completing any online form or by forwarding us an e-mail, we may send you e-mail with updates about ProLiteracy Worldwide's programs and special initiatives geared to helping adults change their lives through literacy. If you do not want to receive such mailings, send us an e-mail at [email protected] and ask to have your name removed. To automatically remove your e-mail address from our list, click on the link provided at the bottom of any e-mail message you receive from ProLiteracy.

Paper Files: All donation forms are stored in a locked area and are destroyed by shredding. Other paperwork is available to approved staff only.

  • Anonymity: you have the right to request that your record be anonymous.
  • Limit type and number of mailings received: you can ask to change the type and/or frequency of mail you receive.
  • Removal from Mailing List: you can ask not to receive additional mail or contact from any ProLiteracy database.
