Each year, corporate and individual sponsors join LVA in support of our National Conference.
They understand that the LVA National Conference is a place where adult education professionals,
program managers, volunteers, and students gather to network and attend workshops on literacy
issues and concerns.
The theme of LVA Conference 2001: A Literacy Odyssey is Literacy and the Family. Workshop tracks include: family literacy, health literacy, English for Speakers of Other Languages, technology, learning disabilities, Equipped for the Future, and student leadership/advocacy.
Special events include:
- Opening night plenary session and dessert reception with best-selling author Barbara Hambly
- Annual Banquet with keynote address by Dr. Randolph Smoak, President of the American Medical Association
- Student Recognition Breakfast - sponsored by Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream
- Exhibit Hall with coffee breaks - sponsored by the National Scrabble Association
- LVA, Inc. Annual Meeting of Members
- Celebratory closing brunch emceed by LVA Spokesperson Wally Amos
