Ben & Jerry�s Ice Cream, 1999-2001 sponsor of LVA�s Student Recognition Events and a strong supporter of student involvement, presents the �Scoop Up a Book and Read� program.

Scoop Up a Book is a "read-a-thon" type event sponsored in partnership with Ben & Jerry�s Ice Cream in which pledges are collected in support of reading. Ben & Jerry's is currently piloting the program in New Jersey. In the pilot program, hundreds of kids and adults will read thousands of books to raise money and awareness of LVA�s mission. Schools will be matched with local business sponsors so that every child has the opportunity to read and help-even if their parents don�t sponsor them. As an added incentive to get schools and businesses involved in the program, Ben & Jerry�s will give away ice cream parties.

All participants need to do is read their favorite books and ask their family and friends to sponsor their reading. Sponsors can make a flat donation or pledge money for each book read. All of the proceeds from this program will stay with and be used by the affiliate!
