March 22, 2006
PKF North American Network (PKF NAN), a worldwide association of independently owned accounting and consulting firms, recently named David de Silva to its Not-For-Profit Committee. De Silva, of Syracuse, New York, is a member of the board of directors for ProLiteracy Worldwide, the world’s largest organization of community-based adult literacy programs.
PKF NAN’s Not-for-Profit Committee provides association members who work with nonprofits with a newsletter, programs, networking opportunities, resources, and exclusive text for use in brochures, proposals, or on firms’ Web sites. De Silva’s appointment recognizes his expertise in providing nonprofit organizations with accounting and financial service advice. His past nonprofit service work includes terms as director, assistant treasurer, and finance committee chair for Syracuse Symphony Orchestra; director, Rotary Club of Syracuse; director and president, Syracuse-Rotary Foundation; and treasurer, vice president, and director for Syracuse Girls Club, Inc.
De Silva is a partner in the Syracuse accounting firm of Dermody, Burke & Brown, CPA. He has been a member of the ProLiteracy Worldwide Board of Directors since 2002 and currently serves as the organization’s treasurer.
“PKF NAN’s Not-for-Profit Committee will benefit from David’s years of service to ProLiteracy and his work with other nonprofit organizations,” said M. Shan Atkins, chair of ProLiteracy’s board of directors. “His record of providing financial services to nonprofits shows how important he believes such work is to the community.”
