While at AIDS Alliance, Harvey chaired various national coalitions, testified before Congress, appeared widely in the media, and spoke at national and international conferences. He worked with other national organizations and Congress on three reauthorizations of the Ryan White CARE Act. Harvey directed an array of federal and private grant-funded programs, including the Consumer Leadership Corps Training Program, a national education program for women living with HIV. An accomplished writer, Harvey has authored book chapters, journal articles, and monographs on topics related to health, disability, and AIDS.
Held at the Regal Sun Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort, Open Books Open Minds brings Florida Literacy programs together to network and share ideas and strategies for adult and family literacy practitioners, volunteers, and adult learners. Adult learners are invited to attend as guests on May 7 for a full day of activities and sessions. The Florida Literacy Awards will be presented on Thursday, May 8, at the banquet.
