Recertification
Trainer Recertification is a four-year national credential granted in recognition of a trainer's continued activity and professional development. Applicants are ProLiteracy-certified trainers. Local and/or state organizations must endorse and support trainers as they proceed through recertification.
To be recertified, ProLiteracy-certified trainers must complete the following requirements:
- Complete the trainer recertification application.
- Obtain a Statement of Organizational Endorsement from the state or local organization.
- Sign a trainer ethics statement.
- Receive an acceptable rating on Trainer Observation Guide.
- Submit evidence of conducting adult literacy instructor/tutor training workshops in three of the past four years, and submit participant evaluations from these trainings.
- Provide evidence of a minimum of 40 points toward professional development directly related to adult education and literacy during the previous four years. Trainers should show evidence of participating in professional development activities in each of the four years. Note: One professional development point is equivalent to one hour of participation.
- Submit a processing fee ($40 if the endorsing program is a ProLiteracy group member; $125 if the program is not a member)
Upon completion of these activities, ProLiteracy will recertify the trainer for a four-year term.
