Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc. and Laubach Literacy held their first Joint National Conference, Literacy for All, from May 29 to June 1, 2002 in San Diego, CA. Overall, more than 700 people from around the country attended. Attendees included adult learners, tutors, trainers, affiliate/council leaders, and representatives from the Adult Education and Literacy System.

With four two-day preconference workshops, nine one-day preconference workshops, four featured speaker sessions, five special events, and 116 conference workshops, intense learning and networking opportunities benefited all attendees. Workshop tracks included Accountability, Instruction, Learning Disabilities, Technology, Women in Literacy, and more.
